Translation quality control with pofilter

For more than an year now, the Brazilian GNOME translation team has been using translate-toolkit, specially its pofilter tool, to check translations before committing them. Since the last versions, pofilter’s behavior can be tailored to the target languages (e.g., pt_BR), but currently only 15 languages are benefited. In Brazil we are preparing a list of useful and useless tests, and I thought other translations teams should do the same. This lists can be then attached to bug reports, together with language-specific information (like the quotation style).

Updated Brazilian Portuguese dictionary for Vim and Aspell

Last weekend I updated the Brazilian Portuguese dictionary for GNU Aspell, and the Portuguese (European and Brazilian) dictionary for Vim. This version features a much improved accuracy while spell checking words with enclisis an mesoclisis.

Documentation translated to Brazilian OpenOffice.org

If you use OpenOffice.org in Brazilian Portuguese, you should subscribe to its news feed. Today, for example, Gustavo Pacheco announced, in the name of the Documentation Project, the availability of more OpenOffice.org documentation in Portuguese: 2 original documents and 7 translated.
Writing or translating documentation is a demanding job, and OpenOffice.org documentation is extensive. Congratulations for the Documentation Project on the achievement!
